A late clutch of nine ducklings appeared on the pond in Chapmore End, on Monday of last week. By Sunday their number had diminished to two, thanks to predators. The lucky two are now being molly coddled in the Woodman by myself and Tony.
"Woody" and "Malcolm" (we still do not know what sex they are) are growing at a speed of knots, and are enjoying life in the bar. They have a cuddly chick for company inside an IPA woolly hat and cuddle up with it in between eating and drinking.
Their features are perfect. They have the most wonderful little webbed feet and their bills are so cute. So far they have been given the run of the bath twice and enjoyed every minute. It gives them the opportunity to exercise their legs do some "ducking and diving".

A few notes and bits from my view behind the bar.

A good evening of jokes the other day. Probably the favourite was:
"al-Qaeda have planted bombs in Alphabetti Spaghetti. If they go off, it could spell DISASTER."
